In 2018 Aino Collmar and Aksel Friberg came together in an Office Cubicle in Stockholm and fast discovered their shared passion for making music. They started up the band “Aksel & Aino” and hooked up with the German label Public Possession where they released a series of EP´s and two Albums between 2019 and 2024. They have gained followers of devoted fans since the release of their debut LP in 2020.
The new album Akvatisk Beredskap came out in December 2024. The warm analogue sounds paired with Aino’s poetical lyrics have hit a soft spot with many. Sounds that work on and off the dance floor alike. It has been described as “multi layered music full of bubbly synths, lively drum machines and soft, sometimes fragile vocals. Deep, emotional electronics, engineered for your heart”.

“Basically, we all know it. A duo with vocals and electronics, with the 80s as their stylistic model. All of this applies to the Stockholm project Aksel & Aino, which continues down this path on its second album. It must be added that Aksel Friberg and Aino Collmar celebrate neither the neon-bright nor the currently very popular gothic shaded sides of the 80s but consistently go somewhere in between. The mood is more introspective, Aino’s vocals are kept disciplined and simple, so that they sound laconic and a tiny bit wistful, along with strictly reduced, mostly light and airy arrangements, nowhere is there a layer that is too thick. This self-restraint, especially in the production, seems so carefree and fresh that, although the approach is by no means unique, you never get the impression that you have heard enough of it elsewhere. The whole thing is personal to them in a positive sense: you feel kindly invited to just be there.”
